Art of Courage | Sophia Hodych & PIP Theatre
After an air-raid siren sounds, we were whisked away to the inner rooms, corridors, and outdoor deck of PIP Theatre, where the “choose-your-own-adventure” aspect of The Art of Courage really came into effect.
West End Stories | West End Community House + Guest Artists
It was on that note of hope and healing where a group of women took their spots on the stage and sang ‘Meanjin Sunrise’ for themselves, their babies, and the betterment of their communities
Boy Swallows Universe | Trent Dalton
Watching Boy Swallows Universe, I felt connected to my city and curious about Brisbane’s thick history of corruption and crime. The show was quintessentially Australian and seems fit to become a staple in high school drama curriculums. I was astonished by Queensland Theatre’s ability to bring Dalton’s world to life.
Intoxication | Before Shot
At its core, the show is about love and relationships and the anxiety, self-doubt, self-loathing, and questions of worth that can come along with it. Christopher addressed audience members as if they were people in his life, people he admired, desired, despised. The audience became participants, watching and being watched in the circle.
The Laramie Project | Ad Astra
For those who aren’t familiar with the script, the Laramie Project is a piece of verbatim theatre which is based on approximately 200 hours of interviews with residents of Laramie, Wyoming, following the kidnapping and murder of gay university student, Matthew Sheppard 1998. It’s quite frankly appalling how relevant the content, characters and messages in the play are in our contemporary society.
